The Greek trip of a lifetime always starts in Athens. This ancient city is one of oldest in the world and is a must-visit when traveling to the Mediterranean—and it’s easy to see since it’s home to the largest airport in Greece. The Athens International Airport is the foreign travel hub of Greece. Once you arrive, you’ll take a short flight or a ferry ride to your next destination. We spent a day in Athens and then followed it up with a trip to Santorini before heading off to Paros.

A For Athens Cocktail Bar
Looking for delicious drinks and even better views? This elevated cocktail bar has everything you need to enjoy a romantic night out on the town
Efcharis
This amazing restaurant was absolutely heavenly. From the super fresh dishes to the €7 jug of wine and people-watching, we couldn’t imagine a better start to our Greek adventure!
Santorini
Charisma Suites
I can’t say enough beautiful things about Charisma Suites. Our room was absolutely gorgeous with its classic Greek color scheme and decor, but the rooftop pool, sweeping views, and caldera is what made it truly breathtaking. It was so lovely, I had to force myself to go explore the rest of the area!
Elinikon Oia Santorini
This was hands down the BEST baklava we had on the entire trip. It was dripping with honey and the phyllo was so flaky. You have to have it.
Strogili Restaurant
The name Strogili pays homage to an ancient volcanic island that had a circular shape—much like the caldera that Strogili the restaurant now sits on. Like nearly every restaurant in Santorini, it boasts beautiful sunset views and creative takes on classic Greek dishes.
Metaximas
Metaximas is a beautiful restaurant that’s about 15 minutes inland and is worth the trip. This hidden gem was my absolute favorite meal in Santorini. I was so clear that everyone there was a true lover of food and you could taste it in ever dish.
SUNSET TAVERNA
If you’re looking for a sunset dinner, look no further—it’s in the name after all. The seafood, like everywhere else in Greece, was as fresh as can be while the view made everything taste even better.
PK Cocktail Bar
This was one of my favorite cocktail spots in Santorini. Just like the SUNSET TAVERNA, they had gorgeous views that matches the cocktails. My personal favorite drink was the P*rn Star Martini!
Skaros Rock
This ancient fortress was made out of an old volcanic eruption and has 300 stairs before you reach the top! If you’re feeling like going the extra mile (or several), it’s another 200 steps to get to Theoskepasti church. The views are worth the burn in your calves!
Pitogyros Grill House
Is there any more classic dish than the gyro? These pitas were so fluffy and soft and the meat was so flavorful and tender. If you’re in Santorini, you have to make a pit stop at Pitogyros!
