Ingredients

  • 1/2 large yellow onion, diced
  • 1lb pork sausage
  • 16oz cream cheese, softened
  • 15oz can fire roasted tomatoes, drained
  • 1 cup pepperoncini rings, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella (divided)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flake
  • crostini or Frito's scoops for eating

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add onion and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add in sausage and break up using wooden spoon. Continue to cook until no longer pink and fully cooked through.
  3. In a large bowl, add softened cream cheese. Add on sausage and onion mixture, fire roasted tomatoes, pepperoncini, 1 cup mozzarella, and all spices. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour mixture into a round 9inch dip pan or 9×9 square pan. Top with remaining mozzarella. Bake for 20 minutes and broil for the last 3-4 minutes to get a brown cheesy crisp on top. Let cool 10 minutes before eating.
  5. Serve with crostini or Frito’s scoops.
