These teriyaki beef bowls do all of the above. They keep you feeling nice and full, and they also taste incredible! From the beef and veggies to the homemade teriyaki sauce made with soy sauce, honey, rice wine vinegar, and sesame oil, this dish is a hit. I can’t wait for you to give it a try!
Ingredients in this simple beef teriyaki bowl recipe
This recipe beings together a variety of flavors for a mouthwatering dish comprised of veggies, protein, and more! Below is everything you’ll need to create this delicious beef teriyaki recipe.
- Olive oil: First, 3 tbsp of olive oil will be needed. It will be used in two parts of the recipe, so divide the 3 tbsp into 1 and 2 tbsp.
- Ground beef: 1 lb of beef will be needed for this recipe. You may use lean ground beef, ground chicken, or ground turkey if preferred.
- Vegetables: Let’s load up this dish with vegetables! Use 1 red bell pepper, 1/2 of a yellow onion, and 1 head of broccoli (either using just broccoli florets or including the stem). All veggies should be diced before using in the recipe. Then, follow those with 3 cups of snap peas.
- Soy sauce: Next, add some flavor by including 1/2 cup of soy sauce. Regular or low sodium soy sauce are both fine.
- Honey: Thicken up the teriyaki and add even more flavor with 1/2 cup of honey. Any brand and type is fine!
- Rice wine vinegar: 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar will add a slight bite to the dish.
- Sesame oil: Follow the rice wine vinegar with 2 tsp of sesame oil.
- Seasonings: This dish is made complete with the addition of a few seasonings. Use 2 cloves of minced garlic (or 1/2 tsp of garlic powder), 1 tbsp of fresh ginger (grated), and 1/4 tsp of red pepper flakes.
- Arrowroot powder: Finally, thicken up the beef teriyaki by including 1 tbsp of arrowroot powder or cornstarch.
- Topping & serving: Set aside chopped green onion and sesame seeds for topping, and serve over rice. Jasmine rice is typically a go-to for this type of dish, but any type works (even cauliflower rice or brown rice)!

- Measuring cups: 1/4 tsp, 1 tsp, 1 tbsp, 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, and 1 cup
How to make teriyaki beef bowls
Let’s get started! From prepping to serving you can expect this recipe to take around 40 minutes.
In a large skillet or saucepan, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil. Once hot, add the ground beef and cook until it’s no longer pink. Turn off the heat, and using a slotted spoon, transfer the meat to a bowl. Discard the excess liquid.
Next, add 2 tbsp of the olive oil to the same pan and heat it to medium-high heat. Add the red pepper, yellow onion, broccoli, and snap peas. Cook for 6-7 minutes or until the veggies have started to soften. Stir often.
While the veggies cook, use a glass measuring cup and whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and arrowroot powder.
Once the veggies are ready, add the beef back into pan and pour on the sauce. Reduce the heat to medium and stir until everything is combined. Let the sauce thicken and cook it with the beef and veggies for 6-7 minutes.
Finally, turn off heat and serve over rice. Top with green onions and sesame seeds!
Storing leftovers
Great news! Leftover beef teriyaki bowls can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer for enjoying later. For either method, be sure to let the dish cool before transferring it to an airtight container. Place in the fridge or freezer, and enjoy within 2-3 days (fridge) or 1-2 months (freezer).
