These Super Fudgy Brownies are the best healthy fudgy brownie recipe ever. Made using almond flour, cocoa powder, and no refined sugar – they are gluten free, dairy free, and still the fudgiest brownies ever!
I’ve been on the world’s largest search to find the best ever fudgy brownie. I mean I want to bite my teeth into the middle and have it be like straight fudge. None of that cakey business here.
I’ve spent the past two weeks in my kitchen creating recipes that kept coming out cakey, and while the brownie taste was SPOT on, every paleo brownie that I made was missing a fudge factor.
Those recipes will be shared…but they won’t be quite as fudgy as these delicious paleo brownies.
Imagine biting into a dense, rich, underbaked brownie that is literally dripping with chocolate, has the perfect consistency, well, that’s literally what these brownies are like except they are actually fully baked and so delicious.
If you love chocolate and brownies as much as I do, you have to bake my Chocolate Zucchini Brownies next.
Why are these super fudgy brownies so fudgy?
All of my brownies kept rising into cake like brownies, and no matter how much moisture I put into them, they would still be super moist but yet super cakey. So then I got to thinking, well, in order to prevent them from rising, let’s take out the leavening agents.
I decided to take out any of the baking soda that I was originally working with and that was the ultimate game changer.
When you take out the leavening agent, you’re left with a dense, solid, non-risen fudgy brownie. I literally cut into them and was screaming for joy because of the fudge factor.
What makes these brownies paleo?
These brownies are paleo because they are completely dairy free, refined sugar free, and gluten free! All of the things on the paleo diet that you can’t have.
But don’t let that deter you….I fed these to not one single person following the paleo diet and they all determined that they were the best brownies they ever had.
If you would have told me when I was a kid that I could eat healthy brownies one day, I would have been the happiest.
What are in these super fudgy brownies?
- Coconut Sugar
- Eggs
- Coconut Oil
- Vanilla
- Almond Flour
- Cocoa Powder
That’s it! Seven basic ingredients to make the best fudgy brownies. Just one bowl, one spoon, and about thirty minutes and you got yourself a tray!
How do you store these brownies?
I like to store these brownies by wrapping them in aluminum foil and keeping them on my counter. They will stay good for up to one week!
You can also freeze these brownies by wrapping them up well in foil and placing in a ziplock bag. They will stay good in the freezer for about 3-4 months, but trust me, you’re going to want to eat them before that!

I never comment on posts but these brownies are SOOOOO good to not give a rating. I don’t eat much sugar so I cut that down to 1/2 cup and the cocoa powder to 1/4 c. I only like fudgy brownies and its so hard to find a recipe that isn’t cakey… this recipe is on point!

These are actually so good! One thing I would recommend is to use refined coconut oil tho because I could kind of taste the coconut since I used unrefined, but I donโt mind that so itโs okay!

Holy smokes – these are delicious! Just what the chocolate Dr ordered. The hardest part of the recipe: waiting for them to cool so you can eat them! Get your glass of milk ready (coconut was my choice) – Pinned and saved! Thanks Erin ๐

Veronica says
Hi Erin, I havenโt had a chance to pick up cocoa powder, would baking chocolate be a suitable substitute?
Erin says
You should be able to make that work great!
Julianne says
Iโm so excited to try this! Would coconut flour work in place of almond flour?
Erin says
Hi Julianne, yes, you can use coconut flour instead. I haven’t tried the recipe with it, so before you bake just be sure to check the ratio because some flours are not a 1:1 ratio. Let me know what flour you use and how it comes out!ย
Sophie says
These look amazing!! What is a good substitute for almond flour? Maybe oat flour or just regular AP?
Erin says
Hi Sophie, you can use any flour you;d like. I havenโt tried the recipe with any substitutes, so before you bake just be sure to check the ratio because some flours are not a 1:1 ratio. Let me know what flour you use and how it comes out!
Colleen says
I can’t wait to try these! Do you think I could substitute the almond flour for all purpose flour? If so, how much would I need?
Erin says
Hi Colleen, yes, you can actually substitute them 1:1, so you’d need 1/2 a cup still. Let me know how they come out!

Hey ๐ I’m wondering if theese brownies would turn out the same if I reduce the amount of sugar? I’d use about 1/2 cup maybe, I think 3/4 cup would be a bit too sweet for my liking..
Erin says
Yes! I think 1/2 cup would work perfectly.
Emily says
These are absolutely AMAZING!! Iโve tried lots of โhealthierโ recipe alternatives but any recipe Iโve ever tried on this website beats any of those out by a landslide. The brownies tasted delicious and moist, with the perfect amount of sweetness. Iโve tried 4 of Erinโs recipes so far and I will keep trying more as so far, everything has turned out, especially these brownies!
Erin says
Aw, thank you so much Emily!!! I’m so glad you like these ๐
Kassidy says
Hi Erin! These look amazing ? Iโm allergic to nuts so whatโs the best replacement for almond flour here? Planning on using sunbutter for the nut butter part
Erin says
Hi! I would try oat flour. You may need to alter the ratio a little, but since there is only 1/2 cup you might be ok.
Britt B says
