- Green pepper: The same goes for a green pepper. Deseed and chop 1/2 of a pepper into large chunks.
- Garlic: 3 cloves of garlic will add delicious flavors to the burgers.
- Soy sauce: Next, up include 2 tbsp of soy sauce. This adds a really subtle but delicious tanginess.
- Balsamic vinegar: The same goes for the balsamic vinegar โ use 2 tbsp.
- Seasonings: Next, include 1 tsp each of cumin, chili powder, and salt.
- Pepper: Finalize the spices with 1/2 tsp of black pepper.
- Avocado oil: Last but not least, you will need 2 tbsp of avocado oil to cook the patties.

How to make the best black bean veggie burgers
The process of making these burgers begins by blending the burger ingredients in a food processor. Then, simply mix everything together, form into patties, and heat! Here’s a full breakdown:
Blend the oats in a food processor until fine.
Add half of the black beans, onion, pepper, and garlic. Pulse until just combined. Do not pulse too long to avoid a mushy consistency. Around 6 times should be sufficient.
Next, pour the mixture into a bowl. Add the rest of the black beans, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
Stir in gently until well combined. Let sit for 10 minutes to thicken.
Form into 6-8 patties.
Heat a pan with 2 tbsp of avocado oil over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side.
Serve immediately.
Delicious black bean burger fixings
Once you’re ready to serve your burgers, do so as you would any other burger! These will taste great atop a nice, fluffy (optionally toasted) bun with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, mustard, etc. You can also throw on a thick slice of cheese for extra yumminess.
Black bean benefits
Black beans are so good for us in so many ways! Not only are they delicious (especially in burger form), they’re also packed with loads of benefits.
Protein is a big one, with more than 7g per 1/2 cup, but they’re also rich in complex carbs, fiber, potassium, iron, and calcium. Their makeup makes them great for aiding blood pressure, heart health, digestion, and even bone health.
Storing leftovers
Want to store pre-cooked burgers for later? This is a great option because you’ll have heat-and-go patties at your fingertips when needed!
Before storing, let the patties cool. Then, place them in an airtight container and store in either the fridge or freezer.
In the fridge, they’ll stay good for up to 3-4 days. In the freezer, about 2-3 months.
