Enjoy a flavorful, protein-packed dish with this Honey Garlic Chicken. Eat bite is overflowing with flavor! Paired with broccoli and rice, the meal is nutrient-rich, filling, and extra satisfying.

The best easy honey garlic chicken
Today, I’m showing you how to make a recipe so good it rivals your favorite honey garlic chicken stir fry takeout! It’s made by first coating the chicken in a flour, salt, and pepper mixture, and then the chicken is cooked in olive oil and coated with a homemade honey garlic sauce.
This is always a winner in our house. It’s so good that each time I prepare it, I’m tempted to make double to enjoy throughout the week!

Ingredients in honey garlic chicken
If there’s one thing honey garlic chicken doesn’t do, it’s skimp out on flavor! Between the soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger, this recipe packs in a serious amount of flavor.
- Chicken: First up for this honey garlic chicken recipe is 1.5lbs of skinless chicken breasts. It should be diced into small pieces before using in the recipe.
- Flour: 1/4 cup of flour will be used to coat the chicken pieces.
- Salt & pepper: 1/2 tsp of salt and black pepper (each) will be used to flavor the chicken.
- Olive oil: Then, we’ll use 2 tbsp of olive oil to sauté the chicken on the stove.
- Arrowroot powder: 1 tsp of arrowroot powder will serve as the base of the sauce. If preferred, feel free to use cornstarch.
- Soy sauce: 1/3 cup of reduced sodium soy sauce tastes incredible alongside the honey and other ingredients.
- Honey: And as for the honey, use 1/2 cup. Any brand works!
- Flavorings: Next up, we have a load of flavorings. To the soy sauce and honey mixture, we’ll be adding 1 tsp of sesame oil, 2 tbsp of rice vinegar, 6 cloves of minced garlic, 1 tbsp of fresh (or 1 tsp dried) ginger, 1 tsp of sriracha, 1/2 tsp of garlic powder, and 1/2 tsp of onion powder.
- Toppings: Top each serving with sesame seeds and spicy mayo, and serve over white or brown rice and broccoli. You can also sprinkle green onions and red pepper flakes on top!

Notes
- Cut the Chicken Small: Dice the chicken into small, truly bite-sized pieces before coating in the flour. Smaller pieces cook faster, more evenly, and get coated in more of that incredible sauce with every single bite.
- Whisk the Arrowroot into the Soy Sauce First: Before adding any other sauce ingredients, whisk the arrowroot powder directly into the soy sauce until fully dissolved. This prevents clumping and ensures the sauce thickens up perfectly once it hits the heat.
- Lower the Heat Before Adding the Sauce: Once the chicken is cooked, drop the heat to medium-low before pouring in the sauce. Adding the sauce over high heat can cause it to burn or seize up before it has a chance to coat everything beautifully.

Amazing. Delicious. One of the best things I’ve made in a long time! The chicken was yummy, the sauce was thick and sticky and so flavorful. I doubled the sauce recipe because I’m a sauce snob, but otherwise made as written. The only downside was I didn’t make enough for leftovers! I served with steamed broccoli, snap peas, and peppers to add some veg. Super yummy and can’t wait to make again!
